The Clear Alternative To Metal Braces and Brackets
Invisalign® is a breakthrough technology that straightens teeth with a series of clear, virtually invisible, custom-molded aligners. These aligners replace the wires and brackets of the past, making orthodontic care practically unnoticeable. And, unlike braces of the past, these clear aligners can be removed while you eat and brush your teeth.
Unlike traditional braces, few people will even know you’re wearing Invisalign®. That’s because each aligner is nearly invisible. So you can have the confidence you need while looking great at work, at school, and with friends. It’s a new type of orthodontics, helping you look good now to look great in the future!
Invisalign® has been proven effective in both clinical research and in dental practices nationwide and can treat:
- Crowded teeth
- Gaps in teeth
- Shifting of teeth after braces
Best of all, Invisalign® helps improve your overall health, including:
- Healthier gums
- Easier cleanings
- Improved chewing
- Reduced risk of abnormal tooth wear
- Improved speech
- Greater confidence and self-esteem
Am I a Good Candidate For Invisalign?
The vast majority of patients are good candidates for Invisalign however we do require that a patient does not have any active dental disease before we start Invisalign treatment therefore some patients may require some dental work prior to Invisalign treatment.
What Is The Process To Start Invisalign Treatment?
During your dental appointment we will confirm if Invisalign Orthodontic Therapy is right for you. After that we take impressions of your upper and lower teeth followed by a series of photographs so we can plan how we want your smile to look after treatment. With this information we are able to use our software to digitally plan your tooth movement and resulting smile. After this is confirmed by the patient, we are clear to being treatment. During your first appointment we will attach small tooth color attachments called engagers to your teeth. This process is painless and is done in a short appointment The number and location of these attachments varies on each patients unique situation. After the attachments are attached to your teeth we will deliver you your first set of trays. Generally patients are given a few sets of trays which must be worn in order during their first appointment and we have them come in for routine orthodontic checks every few months where we assess the treatment and deliver the next trays in the series.
How Many Hours A Day Should I Wear the Trays?
We recommend you wear the trays for 22 hours a day to ensure timely moving of the teeth and progression of the treatment.
Can I Eat or Drink With The Trays In?
We recommend you DO NOT EAT OR DRINK with the trays in. This is because unlike braces Invisalign goes over the chewing surfaces of teeth making chewing with them in difficult and uncomfortable. You would also be likely to unnecessarily wear and damage the trays during eating. Fortunately the trays can be removed and re-inserted in just a few seconds. You CAN drink water with the trays in.
